Holy and interrupting God,
You come to us not only in sanctuaries and familiar places,
but in seasons of exile, dislocation, and uncertainty.
Like Ezekiel by the riverbank,
you meet us when the stories we trusted fall apart.
You speak your Word into the very places
where we feel overwhelmed or undone—
and you invite us to receive that Word
not just with our minds, but with our whole selves.

Today we confess that we, too, cling to our certainties.
We cling to the stories we tell ourselves
about who is right, who is righteous,
and what we believe you must surely bless.
Yet on the Damascus Road,
you interrupted Saul’s confident stride
with a light he could not control
and a voice he could not ignore.
You called him by name
and revealed a mercy he had never imagined.

Interrupt us, O God—
not to shame or punish,
but to free us from the narrowness of our own vision.
Where we are blinded by fear,
give us the grace of waiting.
Where we are clinging to old frameworks,
give us courage to let go.
Where we are certain we already see clearly,
open a new way before us.

Lead us, as you led Saul by the hand.
Feed us, as you fed Ezekiel with your living Word.
Form us into a people
who trust not in our control,
not in our own rightness,
but in your faithfulness—
the faithfulness revealed in Jesus Christ,
who lives in us and transforms us
from the inside out.

So, Spirit of the Living God,
fall fresh on your gathered people today.
Interrupt us where we need interrupting.
Reorient us where we need reorientation.
And awaken in us a deeper certainty—
not that we possess the truth,
but that your mercy is holding us all.

In Christ’s name we pray.
Amen.
